![]() ![]() Was the depinning and soldering hassle worth it? No it was not…all it was for is satisfying my OCD! Which isn’t a bad thing I guess! Plus I suppose I also get that fuzzy feeling of a job well done I used to depin the OEM and solder those molex connectors on the wires of the generic replacement (in commercial I rarely have a need for that so don’t mess with it much anymore). Again I cannot stress enough how much variation there is in “molex”. You will also find that fairly often the molex metal connectors on your generic igniter plug will not fit properly in the OEM plastic plug you want to use. Unfortunately manufacturers use a lot of “molex” but there’s not an exact standard so “molex” varies quite a bit. I’ve found that having more than one style is helpful. And keep connections as far back as possible so wire isn’t transferring heat to connections. I agree…ceramic is totally unnecessary! Just make connections where there isn’t much heat. ![]() If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact support. Plus i read in reviews that people have undervolted this fan can run just on 5V so the usb to 4 molex should still work? (and fan to be quieter that way also). Yes if you can find an adapter that'll work with this: if there's other way i can turn it off without unplug anything, let me know.thnx so far ![]() Plus i read in reviews that people have undervolted this fan can run just on 5V so the usb to 4 molex should still work(and fan to be quieter that way also).anyway i ordered the usb to molex adapter already so we'll see.maybe i am wasting money but i want to be able to turn the fan off. so i don't think i can do that through power supply or mobo.so only way to turn the fan off is to literally unplug it.am i right? Thanks guys,i found out that i do have both sata and 4 pin molex (wires were really messy lol) from power supply but the 4 pin is not linear rectangular 4 pin (like on this fan) but its square,2 holes next to 2 holes.there's adapters for either of these as u told me,BUT what i forgot to mention is that i want to be able to TURN OFF the fan when not gaming/rendering/video editing (cuz 3200rpm is pretty loud). There is no tach cable ( only 2 wires ), won't be able to tell RPM's, it's meant to run full speed, no real point in attempting to power it via the motherboard even if you had a free header. Look at the lower right hand corner of the photo, that's a Molex pass-thru connector, you connect it to a Molex connector from the power supply, and it allows for another peripheral to be connected. is there such a thing to connect it to adapter which converts it to regular usb, so i can plug it in the regular usb ports on the back of my PC (usb ports like the ones for mouse, keyboard, any electronics.) ? if it does exist, will it have enough power to run the fan?Įdit: ok i found this one, which is 4 pin to dual usb,but i wonder if it has enough power to run the fan : where do i exactly plug it in? i don't have anywhere to plug it on the motherboard. Ok so i bought this exhaust fan and it has a 4 pin connector (look at it). ![]()
